External Reviews of the VRoma Learning Environment

The VRoma Project is included among the web resources recommended by the NEH's EDSITEment and has been favorably reviewed by Bryn Mawr Electronic Resources (now part of Bryn Mawr Classical Review) and MERLOT, the Multimedia Educational Online Resource for Learning and Online Teaching.

Several articles about VRoma can be found in the CALICO Journal: Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium, Volume 18.2 (2001), and in the 2001 Teacher's Guide to Advanced Placement Courses in Latin. DigiCULT, a European-funded project to monitor and assess existing and emerging technologies to benefit the cultural heritage sector, chose to include a case study about VRoma; see pages 160-64 in its Technology Watch Report 2 (February 2004) on “Collaborative Mechanisms and Technologies.” The Executive summary praises “VRoma, whose innovative approach to historical and scholarly work allows geographically separated users to access and discuss materials in a shared virtual space. This shows how collaborative resources can be deployed for multiple purposes, particularly as a medium for structured and unstructured learning” (see page 145).
