Vergil, Augustus, and the City of Rome

The virtual city of Rome offers multiple ways to set the Aeneid in its original cultural context. Various sites in VRoma can be used to give students a new perspective on the epic, as they explore the links and interconnections between Augustan Rome and the Aeneid.

The following assignments are designed to be carried out by small groups of students working together; the students do not have to be in the same location, since they can log on to the VRoma MOO from any computer with an internet connection. Before attempting these assignments, the students should have some acquaintance with MOO basics. It would be helpful to give them copies of the Quick Start Guide to the VRoma Learning Environment.
