16 members of the Crown Point Latin Club attended state convention at Indiana University--Bloomington on Friday, April 9th and Saturday, April 10th. The CPHS Scrapbook, put together under the direction of Dala Duffala and Meagan Plants, placed 3rd. The CP delegation placed 3rd in the delegate spirit contest while the club placed 3rd in the year long spirit contest. The club also received 5th in the Publicity contest with over 4,000 points. [See Below.]
We are proud to announce that our Lower division Certamen team, consisting of Chris Humbert and Robby Schrum, has returned home as State Champions, successfully defending the championship they earned last year in the novice division. Our Upper team also competed in the final round, earning 2nd place.
We are especially pleased to report that Stacy Jovanoski has been elected as Parliamentarian of the Indiana Junior Classical League for the upcoming year.
Nota Bene:
1) Everyone who went with us placed in the top ten in some area of competition.
2) Due to the hard work of these 16 young people, we placed 2nd in the Overall Sweepstakes competition, less than 50 points behind the first place school, which had over 50 students competing at state convention.
3) The five students who have the highest placings in the academic competitions are recognized with an individual academic achievement trophy. Three of these five trophies went home on a Crown Point bus. They belong to Lauren Griffith, Janet Monstwillo, and Robby Schrum.
