Although it is possible to define a learning environment wherein the student and teacher never actually meet face-to-face this should not be one's pedagogic aim. The need for staff-student contact is still as great as ever, with the teacher's role becoming more important with the use of IT as they are faced with the task of guiding students to appropriate material, whilst at the same time being required to have a greater level of computer-literacy.
