Clodia    (the Social Set of Catullus)

Called Lesbia in the poems.
 
 
Daughter of Appius Claudius Pulcher (Consul in 79 B.C.) and sister of Clodius Pulcher.
Married Quintus Caecilius Metellus Celer (Consul in 60 B.C.).
Affair with Catullus, while her husband was still alive.
Metellus died in 59 B.C. Rumour that Clodia had poisoned him.
Affair with Caelius after her husband's death, perhaps when Catullus left for Bithynia (57 B.C.)
Accused Caelius of attempting to poison her. Cicero secured his acquittal by a speech which was in large part an invective against Clodia.
