This song isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of the American educational-industrial complex (or of teachers themselves, whom Dylan calls "mongrel dogs"). Dylan doesn't seem especially hostile to education itself, though; perhaps he is paraphrasing Twain's famous sentiment: "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." |
